The UMIK-1 is equipped with two distinct calibration files tailored for two different measurement types:
- 0deg: Direct the microphone at the sound source you are measuring, such as a nearfield measurement of your active speaker. This can help in determining the time alignment of a multiway speaker.
- 90deg: Orient the microphone upwards towards the ceiling to capture sounds from all directions around the microphone (for instance, in a home theater setup where multiple audio sources need to be measured around the listening area).
For a Dirac live measurement, the recommended position is always 90deg whether it's a stereo or surround sound setup.
